01 — Overview
## What welding services actually is — and when to commission it.

### What it is
Welding services covers everything from a one-off repair — a broken bracket, a cracked frame, a snapped gate hinge — through to fabricating a component to order. Done in steel and stainless, MIG and TIG.

### Who it's for
Trade clients in Swindon needing a small repair to keep a job moving, homeowners with a broken bit of metal that needs saving rather than replacing, engineers needing a one-off welded fabrication, and other tradespeople who need a proper welder rather than a general handyman.

### When it's needed
When something's broken and needs to be repaired, when a small component needs to be fabricated to a drawing or sample, or when a general contractor needs a skilled welder to hand for a defined part of a job.

### Why professional help matters
A weld is either fully fused or it isn't. A cold weld looks the same on the surface as a good one and fails the first time it's loaded. Welding is a discipline — done properly it lasts the life of the material; done badly it fails immediately.

02 — What happens if you get it wrong
## The four failures we see when welding services is done cheaply.

### Cold or porous welds
Under-heated welds or welds contaminated with paint, mill scale or moisture fail on first load. They also crack invisibly under cyclic load.

### Wrong process for the material
MIG on thin stainless burns through; TIG on structural mild steel is slow and unnecessary. Matching the process to the material is a big part of the skill.

### Repair that just cracks again
A weld into an already-fatigued section without addressing the cause fails again in weeks. Proper repair often means gusseting or reinforcing, not just filling the crack.

### No finish after the weld
A weld left un-ground and un-treated on external work rusts at the join within a season.

03 — Our process
## From first call to signed-off installation.

- Step 1

### Bring it in, or send a photo
Small items can come to the workshop; larger items get a site visit. A photo and dimensions get you a quick indicative price.

- Step 2

### Fair, transparent quote
Priced honestly. What we quote is what you pay.

- Step 3

### Welded properly
Correct process (MIG for structural steel, TIG for stainless and finish work), correct filler, correct heat input. Welds ground back on visible work.

- Step 4

### Finished for its environment
Primed and topcoated where appropriate; passivated on stainless. So the repair holds visually as well as structurally.

- Step 5

### Handed back or installed
Collected, delivered, or installed on site — whatever the job needs.

04 — Benefits
## What you actually get when you commission this from SRN.

### Skilled, experienced welders
experienced trade welding — reviews publicly call out our welding as knowledgeable and skilled.

### Right process for the material
MIG for structural steel, TIG for stainless — we don't force one process to do everything.

### Fair, transparent pricing
Publicly reviewed as fair on price. What we quote is what you pay.

### Quick turnaround on small work
Small welding jobs turned around in days, not weeks.

### Repair-first mindset
Where a repair is genuinely the right call, we repair — rather than push a full replacement.

05 — In detail
## Materials, methods, variations — the full picture.
This is the technical detail that separates a fabricator from a supplier. Read it, or skim the headings — either way, it's what you're paying for.

### Processes we use
MIG (Metal Inert Gas / GMAW) is our workhorse for structural mild steel, gates, staircases, balustrades and general fabrication — fast, strong and well-suited to production welding. TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas / GTAW) is used on stainless steel, on visible welds where finish matters, and on thin material where MIG would burn through.

### Materials
Mild steel across all sections — box, tube, angle, flat, plate, beam. Stainless steel primarily on balustrade infill, handrail and where cosmetic weld finish is required. We do not weld aluminium.

### Common repair jobs
Broken gate hinges and drop-bolts, cracked staircase stringers, fatigued handrail connections, broken workshop-tool brackets, cracked trailer chassis (subject to structural assessment), garden furniture and gate ironmongery, and heritage metalwork repairs where the piece is worth saving.

### Fabrication to order
Custom brackets, gussets, plates, small assemblies and one-off components fabricated from your drawing, sketch or sample. Ideal for engineers, other trades, and anyone who needs 'one of these, exactly.'

### On-site welding
Where the item can't come to the workshop we bring the welder to site. Common on structural steel installation, gate and balustrade fit-up, and site repair. and CSCS-carded across Swindon, Wiltshire and the surrounding counties.
